Aston is a fabulous success story - his parents bought him a BBQ in June 2020 as something to keep him occupied in lockdown, he previously did karate at a national level so wasn’t used to sitting around doing nothing but due to covid that had all stopped.
He wanted to start an Instagram page to document his progress so @Smokin_maple_meats was born.
He got involved in a kids' bbq page where he won a couple of competitions and started following Adam Purnell (A Shropshire Lad) and doing Adam’s young Shrewsbury cook-alongs.
Aston entered a national masked griller competition and came 8th – a fantastic achievement for someone so young. He is an ambassador for various brands, travels to events and festivals to appear on stage, and is always learning new skills.
