Anna Christoforou - Cypriot Influences in Modern Cooking

Where:

Food Theatre - Outer Bailey

When:

Professional cooking has been in Anna’s family for three generations.

Her family came from Larnaca, Cyprus, and after emigrating to the UK in the 1960s, her grandparents worked hard to keep their culture and traditions alive.

Anna is passionate about the Cypriot food of her childhood. She first cooked for friends and family. Later, after competing in MasterChef 2017, she began running pop-up restaurants and supper clubs. She also tutors in Greek and Cypriot cookery, works as a recipe developer and food stylist and hosts talks and demos focused on the unique cuisine of the island and wider region and how the history and its people have shaped the wonderful flavour visitors fall in love with.

Cypriot cuisine has been shaped by more than 5,000 years of invasion and cultural influence. As a result, the food blends well-loved flavours of Greece, North Africa, Turkey, and the Levant which has developed into a uniquely Cypriot cuisine. Expect earthy, rich flavours with mint, cinnamon, lemon, bay, honey, and floral notes.

Cypriot food is a unique and delicious journey through history.
