Lumiere is an award-winning Michelin-Starred restaurant in the heart of Cheltenham and one of the UK’s best kept secrets. Led by husband-and-wife team Jon and Helen Howe. Known for its imaginative tasting menus, personal service and commitment to sustainability, Lumiere offers a truly intimate fine-dining experience that reflects the seasons and the landscape of the Cotswolds. 

Jon Howe, born in Somerset and educated at Bath Catering College, has built his career in some of the UK’s most prestigious Michelin-starred restaurants, luxury hotels, and high-end gastro pubs. He has also competed with the British Culinary Team, showcasing his skills on a national stage. A chef from an early ambition, Jon now heads Lumière, one of the country’s most highly rated Michelin-starred restaurants, also holding 4 AA Rosettes and ranked 9th Best Restaurant in the UK by Harden’s. Away from the pass, Jon enjoys fishing, cars, rugby, and skiing

Hereford-born Helen Howe studied Biomedical Science at Wolverhampton University before working for the NHS for 10 years as a trained biomedical scientist. Despite a successful science career, Helen’s heart was always in hospitality, having worked as a waitress since the age of 15. Her parents once told her to “get a proper job” but promised that if she still wanted to work in a restaurant after 10 years, they would help her make it happen, and they did. Now Lumière’s Maitre D and General Manager, Helen combines her love of service with a passion for people.
