Chris Simpson is the distinguished chef at the helm of the county’s only Michelin starred restaurant, Pensons, located on the Netherwood Estate near Bromyard.

Pensons prides itself on its admirable ‘estate to plate’ ethos. Since taking over the kitchen nearly two years ago, Chris has been working closely with the Netherwood gardening team to ensure its bountiful kitchen garden produces a varied harvest for its award-winning menus. In 2022 the restaurant was awarded a coveted Green Michelin star in addition to its Red star.

Ever committed to sustainability and the surrounding community, Chris ensured no food went to waste during the pandemic. Pensons donated at-home meals to NHS heroes, as well as created inspired ‘dine-in’ boxes for lockdowned locals who wanted a little bit of luxury.

Chris worked with Nathan Outlaw for a decade, including as head chef at Restaurant Nathan Outlaw, Cornwall, when the restaurant earned its two Michelin Stars. Before relocating to Bromyard, Lancashire born Chris was head chef at Gidleigh Park, Devon, which was also awarded a Michelin Star under his tenure. Chris also worked in Edinburgh at Restaurant Martin Wishart and has spent time abroad, including working in Rotterdam and Australia.
