Ludlow Food Festival

The Original Festival for Food and Drink Lovers

Mike Bullard

Where:

Mike is Chef Proprietor of 'The Butchers Social' in Solihull, providing a friendly approach to finer dining, celebrating proper food without the pretence.

Mike began life as a pot wash at his friend’s restaurant at 14, moving to prepping potatoes and vegetables at 16 before beginning his apprenticeship at 'Metro Bar & Grill in Birmingham,' moving through the ranks within the 'Lovely Pubs company' before leaving to gain a wide range of experience with contract and outside catering and working at University College Birmingham. Mike was then appointed as Consultant Executive Chef at 'West Bromwich Albion,'  gaining significant recognition within the food industry and winning many accolades including the prestigious Craft Guild of Chefs Award for 'Banqueting Chef of the year' with previous recipients listed as Albert Roux, Marco Pierre White, Raymond Blanc, Pierre Koffmann and James Martin.

Mike also spent time in New York working for a number of Michelin-starred restaurants, including Le Bernadin (3 stars), Per Se (3 stars) and The Breslin (1 star).

He loves fresh British produce and his favourite thing to eat at home would be a fish finger sandwich with homemade tartar sauce, and if Mike hadn't been a Chef, then he'd have loved to have been a Fireman.

Mike is currently nominated for 'Chef of the Year' in The Midlands Food, Drink & Hospitality Awards 2019 so we have everything crossed for him.
